This drawing was shared with us by renowned Palestinian artist Raed Issa, who is based in Gaza and was displaced to Rafah as a result of the war. His 10-year-old son, Mohammed, created this powerful depiction of their reality as his father ran a makeshift art school for their new community. By sheer chance, they are there, and we are here.

For many, immersing themselves in art offers a brief escape, a return to a time untouched by war. This is a true testament to art’s ability to alleviate psychological burdens. It also highlights the importance of community support during times of crisis, and we are more proud to support Palestinian child artists and their mentors in sharing their art with the world.
