Tiny Designs: the Key
Share
The Key. The right for return.
The Key is one of the most significant symbols in Palestinian culture and history. Palestinians are incredibly connected with our land - as most indigenous groups can relate. When we build our houses, they are immediately homes. When we tend to our land, we connect with her spirit and history. We pour our intention into everything we do and cannot simply forget the reality that our homes were forcibly and violently taken from us, no matter how much time passes.

The Key pays tribute to all our grandparents who finally found some form of stability yet still fell asleep clutching their own keys. All our grandparents who still hold the deed to their home, decades later; a home that may no longer physically exist, but will forever live on in our memories, stories, and hopefully a few pictures.
A few of us decedents are lucky enough to hold onto their keys for them; to maintain and honor their memory and legacy through a tangible symbol. Some of us are not as lucky. Either way, none of us will ever forget what our people went through, continue to go through, and the weight that our keys hold.
Our struggle is ongoing, and to continue to exist as Palestinians means to remember and honor how we got here. Decades of displacement, oppression, and now years in a genocide remind us we were not dealt an easy hand at life, but we know that our connection with each other and with our land can never be broken.
With NAR, we offer you your own Key to bring wherever you go. Please wear it with intention and gratitude.
